A Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Manchester City, Matheus Nunes, has been arrested for alleged theft.
According to reports, Nunes was questioned by authorities on the charge of allegedly ‘stealing’ a smartphone at a nightclub in Madrid, Spain.
Naija News understands that the athlete was detained early in the morning on September 8 at a large club called La Riviera and was then taken to a nearby police station for interrogation.
It was gathered that the incident took place around 5:30 am following an allegation that he stole the phone from a 58-year-old individual who attempted to photograph him without consent in the club’s restrooms.
The 26-year-old player born in Brazil allegedly took the phone out of anger and did not return it.
The authorities reportedly apprehended him after receiving a call to the location and discovered the phone in his possession, as reported by El Mundo.
Nunes joined the English Premier League side, Manchester City two years prior for a transfer fee of €62 million, but he was also considered as a backup option for Pep Guardiola.
‘There Are Few Players Like Me In The World’ – Victor Osimhen
Meanwhile, Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen has stressed that his transfer market value should be more than €100 million as he insisted that he is one of the best in the world.
In an interview with TuttoSport, Victor Osimhen boldly asserted that only a few footballers in the world are as good as he is, even though he had to leave Napoli on loan to Galatasaray after his suitors failed to pay for his €130 million release clause this summer.
The 25-year-old’s impact was evident during Napoli’s Scudetto triumph two seasons ago, where he remarkably scored 26 goals in Serie A and became the first African player to clinch the Capocannoniere title.
Despite his previous success, Osimhen’s future at Napoli was heavily tested last season, leading to speculation about potential moves to clubs such as PSG, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Al Ahli before he settled for Galatasaray.
Since joining Galatasaray, Osimhen has made an immediate impact, registering two goals and four assists in just four games.
“I am worth more than 100 million euros”, Victor Osimhen said.
“There are few players like me in the world who have achieved the same results and success as me.
“Everything is linked to my characteristics, the things I do on the pitch and my quality. I think I deserve a high valuation.
“I am aware of the contribution I can give to a team. Do people think differently? Some say 15 million euros, others say 100-120-150. Everyone has different opinions.”
